A theme of some of my recent conversations with individuals in Carmel or interested in Carmel has been the importance of spiritual sharing, and the difficulty of finding people to talk with about spiritual questions - even among fellow Catholics. This is one of the things that attracts some to the Seculars - the enjoyment of spiritual sharing within a safe group whose members are giving priority to the quest for God and to going deeper in their faith. Many of us find it difficult to enter into discussion with others about faith questions and difficulties, but it is one of the beauties of Carmel that it provides a safe space for us to do so, and perhaps sometimes encourages us to be a little bit more adventurous in our relationships with other people in general.
