The question of meetings in August is a funny one. August is of course the holiday month, so some group members will be away. Is that reason to take a break from the meetings? Are the meetings some kind of work from which we need to rest? Surely not? Nonetheless I do believe that an August break can be good for us, not least because it reminds us how much the regular meetings mean to us. The downside is that numbers can be somewhat depleted in August because of holiday absences. On the other hand a group I attended recently did have an August meeting and it was a delightful surprise. There were absentees, but at the same time there were three new visitors who had read about the meetings on our poster in a parish church and we had a wonderful meeting, learning about their spiritual journeys and studying the thought of our Therese together. He is indeed 'the God of Surprises'.
