Our retreats

Today we have the OCDS National Council Meeting online.  The National Council is composed of the National President, Annette Goulden, and the Regional Representatives.  The OCDS communities and groups nationally are divided into Regions and a Representative of each Region is elected at the triennial Presidents’ Conference.  The next Conference will be held in Leeds in 2025 at Hinsley Hall.  There will be 35 to 40 attendees and it is rather a special occasion.  One of the important tasks of the National Council is the organisation of retreats.  This used to be relatively easy in the days when we could rely on the availability of the Boars Hill Priory, but these days it is more complicated – there are not so many Catholic retreat houses around.  In 2025 there will be retreats at Ampleforth Abbey and Douai Abbey and also at Wistaston, near Crewe.  They are all delightful venues and we are very blessed to have them.  Information elsewhere on the website.

Past and present

I have recently taken over as Registrar for the Seculars, a task which Chris Noble performed valiantly for many years.  There is a wonderful old book containing a record of Promises made since 1882!
