The Worldwide Order

We had a marvellous Regional Day at Boars Hill Priory on Saturday last.  It was a very happy occasion and there was great joy on the faces of those who made their promises during the day.  One of the highlights of the meeting was the reports from those present who had attended the World Meeting of Secular Carmelites in Avila earlier in the Summer.  Their faces as they described the delight of sharing in a sense of oneness with fellow Seculars from all over the world were a sight to see.  A most encouraging statistic they shared with us in their reports told of the huge growth in the number of countries where the Seculars are now present.  Worldwide we are more than thirty thousand.  I reflected that at the same time the world has now come to the UK and some at least of our groups are international in membership.  In my own community we have members from Poland, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and this is surely a great enrichment and indeed a very beautiful thing in itself.
