Carmelite nuns

To my shame, I confess that I have only just discovered the website of the British Carmelite nuns - carmelitenuns.uk

It is rather beautiful in design and includes a map of the locations of OCD monasteries in England, Wales, and Scotland. One of the extraordinary things about our nuns is that the convents seem to operate with a high degree of independence - although I can see that this has been changing since the twentieth century.

The website contains a six-week discernment course which gives guidance to individual women thinking they might have a vocation to Carmel, helping them to think it over prayerfully. I think it would make an excellent starting-point for anyone pondering the very special and very precious call of enclosure.
