CARMELITES IN ISRAEL

At this time of war in Israel, our thoughts go to our fellow Carmelites there. Ten years ago, I had the privilege of staying in the Carmelite House on Mount Carmel in Haifa, also of visiting the Sisters close by. I have never forgotten that visit, because as we were about to leave, one of our group asked the Prioress 'Have you any parting words for us?' - and the face of this Enclosed Nun behind the grill creased up in a smile and she cried out "Be happy! Jesus wants you to be happy!"
