Facebook and Carmel

I hear warnings about Facebook as a channel for cybercrime, but I notice that there are many good Catholic groups using it, and in particular there is a ‘Friends of the OCDS’ site.  The misuse of the internet for wicked purposes is very concerning but at the moment my inclination is to hope for the best and plunge in prayerfully (while taking care not to post any personal information on it).  There are all kinds of good things on the Friends of the OCDS site – quite a lot of people put up prayers, there are some beautiful pictures, there are sermons, there are many reminders of lesser-known saints.  When we have a big Feast Day like yesterday, the Feast of All the Carmelite Saints, there is an outpouring of material.  The entries come from all over the world and I find the sense of belonging to a worldwide community within the Church awe-inspiring and deeply encouraging.

Intercessions:

Bernard – cancer, and his wife Angela

David – multiple afflictions, confined to home

Rosemarie – multiple afflictions

Agnes – health struggles

A new Manchester saint?

In our new Manchester OCDS group somebody mentioned the name of Pedro Ballester, previously unknown to me, as a potential Manchester saint.  I did some research and discovered that he was Pedro Balles
