Priests who encourage us to go deeper

I am much encouraged by the welcome that parish priests give to new Secular Carmelite groups. Finding a good venue is a priority with a new group, but I have found that parish priests are delighted to hear about groups that want to take people deeper into our faith. There is an awareness today of how fragile some people's commitment to the Church can be, particularly if it is based mainly on family tradition. Tradition has been losing its former power in recent decades. Depth of commitment is a gift of God that can be sought. Ask and you shall receive. The quest is greatly helped by membership of a group of like-minded persons who are likewise engaged on it. In Carmel we are held in the arms of Our Lady who gently leads us closer to God.
