Putting your money where your mouth is

At our Coventry meeting on Saturday I was struck by how our discussion of a text by Therese of Lisieux led into the difficulties all of us have in living out our faith day to day in the context of family and friends. From her convent enclosure this extraordinary young lady from the nineteenth century touched some universal strings in our twenty-first century hearts. How do we radiate Christ to those around us? How do we actually live the Gospel we believe in? One of the many beauties of Carmel is that at the same time as leading us deeper into God, it leads us deeper into the challenges of our daily lives. And the biggest challenge I find there is to be true to my faith in my actual life, to live not according to my private desires but according to the principles Holy Mother Church teaches me.
