Starting the year with Therese

We have now received the first of our Therese portions for study in our meetings in 2025 from Rome.  This will be the third and last year of our triennium of special celebrations of the magnificent saint of Lisieux.  I have just heard this extraordinary story illustrating her continuing active power today.  A young man called Thomas without any connection to the Church saw a picture he was strangely drawn to in a car boot sale.  Some time later the local church, situated on the main street of his town, had an open day to encourage outsiders to come off the street and inside the building.  He happened to be passing the church and felt drawn to come inside.  He fell into conversation with a parishioner and subsequently turned up to mass.  He told the parishioner he had bought a picture he liked, only he didn’t know who the person in the picture was.  He brought the picture to show his friend in the parish to see if that person could identify it.

The picture was a picture of St Therese.

Thomas then joined the RCIA course and was received into the Church.

I can’t get over this lovely story!
