Teresa of Avila - a popular patroness

I googled ‘St John Bosco Carmelites’ to find any connections between the saint of today’s feast with Carmel, and I came up with the Salesian Sisters of St John Bosco – also known as the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.  This Order, established to do the work among young girls in Italy that Don Bosco was doing among boys, was founded by St Maria Mazzarello.  According to their website, ‘The Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco work with and for poor youth throughout the world! Through education and formation, we seek to bring Christ closer to the young so they can live a deeper relationship with Him and be empowered to spread the Good News out into the world.’   Today the Order is truly international, though I am not sure if it is represented in the UK.  The reason it came up in my Google search is because it has our St Teresa as one of its five patrons.  The website contains the following very apposite observation about our saint.  ‘Teresa is one of the foremost writers on mental prayer, and her position among writers on mystical theology is unique. Her books … are full of deep spiritual insight and a rare degree of practical common sense. In all her writings on this subject she deals with her personal experiences, which a deep insight and analytical gifts enabled her to explain clearly.’  I say Amen to that
