A great saint who loved Teresa

An eighteenth-century saint and Doctor of the Church celebrated for his contribution to moral theology, St. Alphonsus Liguori wrote extensively on the spiritual life, having been influenced by the teachings of St. Teresa of Ávila. As a young seminarian, he became a faithful devotee of St. Teresa, even signing his letters, "long live Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and Teresa." St. Teresa's influence extended to Alphonsus' devotion to St. Joseph. Today, these two saints (St. Teresa and St. Alphonsus) along with St. André Bessette, are honored for their devotion to St. Joseph by their depiction in the sanctuary of St. Joseph's Oratory in Montréal, the largest shrine dedicated to St. Joseph in the world.
