The National Council meets

Off today for a meeting of the OCDS National Council.  We usually meet online but we try to gather in person at least once a year and stay overnight.  This time we are going to the Oblate Retreat Centre at Wistaston, near Crewe.  It is run by the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, founded by St Eugene Mazenod in 1816 to serve the poor and marginalised in post-Revolutionary France (his feast day was just six days ago on 21 May).  Such is the quiet rural feel of this Retreat Centre that one isn’t aware of being close to the famous rail junction.  It will be so good to share and discuss together the particular issues and opportunities that we face today.  If you are a member of the Secular Carmelites you are welcome to communicate with your Regional Representative issues (either directly or through your president) that you would like to be taken up on the National Council.  We are not there to dictate to anybody but to co-ordinate, to share insights and experiences, and to spread inspiration.

Intercessions:

Brian Davis – cancer

Marie, Bernard (and wife Angela caring for him) - cancer

Siena, Elara – sick children

Wojtek – massive heart attack leaving him incapacitated
