A neglected Carmelite saint

It seems that St Teresa had a great devotion to today’s saint, Albert of Trapani OCD (c.1240-1307).  He was a Sicilian Carmelite, son of an admiral.  His parents were not initially blessed with children but made a vow that if they had a son, he would be consecrated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel.  Albert became Provincial Superior of the Sicilian Carmelites for the last ten years of his life.  There is a lovely story about his death, whereby there was a dispute between the faithful and the priests regarding plans for his funeral, for the faithful wanted to celebrate him as a saint while the priests wanted a normal Requiem Mass. The argument abruptly came to an end when angels appeared - siding with the people and confirming the late friar as a confessor of the faith.  I discover today that Whitefriars St O.Carm church in Dublin actually has relics of St Albert.  In Agrigento in Sicily his liturgical feast sees a relic of the saint dipped into the water of Saint Albert's Well, and the Carmelites say that those who devoutly use the water receive healing of mind and body through the intercession of Albert.  I think this saint deserves to be better known.
