Catholics and stress

I was in the Post Office a few months ago and I picked up a leaflet about Meditation Classes.  I wasn’t surprised to see that it was a Buddhist thing.  That set me thinking – why do we let Buddhists and Yoga people rule the meditation roost?  We Catholics – and above all Carmelites – know a thing or two about meditation!  Why couldn’t we have meditation classes for Catholics, utilising Scripture mantras or sayings of the saints? (It struck me that St Therese’s saying All is grace would make a good mantra.  Anyway, I got together with a friend in the parish and we are hoping to launch classes in the New Year.  I gather that stress is a huge health problem out there in our day, and we are hoping to reach out to some younger parishioners who might see this as helpful for them.  The plan is just for an hour every fortnight.  I wonder if this has been tried elsewhere?
