The Holy Face

At a recent OCDS meeting we discussed the full name of Therese – Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face, and questions were asked about the Holy Face devotion, so I looked it up this morning and here are a few words from a website about it.  ‘Sr. Mary of St. Peter (French: Marie de Saint Pierre) (1816–1848), was a Discalced Carmelite nun who lived in Tours, France. From 1844 to 1847, our Lord spoke to her about spreading throughout the world the devotion to His Most Holy Face. …  He promised to imprint His divine likeness on the souls of those who honour His most holy countenance, and He further promised that all who would defend His cause in the Work of Reparation by words, by prayers, or in writing, will be defended by Him before His Father.’  I do love this idea that as we gaze on His Holy Face, His likeness is imprinted on our souls.
