The power of the Virtual

Tonight our Virtual Carmel meets.  These monthly internet Seculars sessions are so much part of my routine now that it is easy to forget how new they are.  During each meeting we have been studying a chapter of Teresa’s Way of Perfection together, and we are due to look at Chapter 30 tonight – so that is a measure of how long our sessions have been going.  They can never entirely replace the standard traditional Secular meetings with their opportunities for encounter and socialising, but they are good nonetheless, especially for those who don’t have access to a physical gathering.  The sessions last an hour and a half and they include a time for communal silent prayer, when we shut off our audio and video and enter our individual silence – and yet we are connected.

Intercessions:

Marie – cancer

Bernard – cancer, and wife Angela

Rosemarie – multiple afflictions

Elara – in children’s hospital
