Two simple saints

Still thinking about St Mary of Jesus Crucified - otherwise known as Mariam Bouardy OCD (1846-1878), or 'the little Arab'. Born in Upper Galilee, died in Bethlehem, she lived quite a tumultuous life, working for various employers in different places, moving to France, moving to India, moving back to the Holy Land. She was in Pau in Southern France between 1867 and 1870 and of course Pau is not so far from Lourdes, but Bernadette had left Lourdes by 1866 so they would have missed each other. But these two saints famed for their simplicity and innocence have much in common and I like to think about them together. What their conversation might have been! Bernadette herself had thoughts of becoming a Carmelite but it was not to be.
